About The Position

The Mobile Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe work systems and procedures are practiced and adhered to, maintaining an exemplary standard of housekeeping, and complying with company policies and legislation. This role involves leading by example, communicating department obligations, and maintaining professionalism. Key duties include guiding direct reports through equipment installation and maintenance, supporting oil sampling and vibration analysis programs, and performing succession planning. The supervisor will delegate work assignments, train apprentices, respond to urgent matters, and manage work requests and orders within the CMMS. They will also oversee the performance of direct reports, maintain interdepartmental partnerships, and ensure compliance with environmental requirements for waste disposal. Teamwork and collaboration are essential, as is proactive planning and organization to identify and address hazards and maintain equipment files.

Requirements

  • Red Seal in trade or 12,000 hrs in the trade
  • Underground Supervisory common core or obtain within 12 months
  • Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Mining act
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite programs
  • Competent with working within CMMS programs
  • Able to inspect and troubleshoot mechanical equipment ensuring it is fit for purpose and complies with manufacturers’ and/or Company standards
  • Valid Driver License
  • Some previous supervisory experience either with SLR or with other Underground mining/milling operations.
  • Some level of experience in all aspects of mechanical maintenance site wide
  • Working knowledge of mechanical maintenance applications at an UG mine site

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe work systems/procedures are always practiced and adhered to, minimizing risk to self, employees, and contractors.
  • Maintain an exemplary standard of housekeeping, safe work, incident/accident reporting, and active involvement in safety initiatives.
  • Abide by and proactively comply with Company policies, procedures, guidelines, systems, and all relevant legislation.
  • Understand and familiarize oneself with site Emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Display conduct aligned with company Core Values, Policies and Procedures.
  • Lead by example and actively participate to achieve department and company goals and objectives, communicating them to subordinate personnel.
  • Initiate and provide input into company directives in collaboration with the Site Management team.
  • Communicate department obligations and conditions to the leadership team, ensuring specific understanding and accountability.
  • Support and follow all lawful instructions/directives from direct supervisor.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and take responsibility for own conduct and behaviour in the workplace.
  • Ensure good, clear lines of communication between all stakeholders, including the Site Management team, co-workers, and contractors.
  • Demonstrate support for peers or cross shift.
  • Guide direct reports through basic equipment installation from foundation work through to equipment alignment.
  • Identify and support the use of the oil sampling program.
  • Identify and support the use of vibration analysis trending.
  • Engage in succession planning by identifying potential candidates for the role.
  • Delegate work assignments according to skill levels, weekly plans, and urgent needs.
  • Guide and train apprentices through assignments based on their current skill levels and ability for growth.
  • Respond to urgent matters requiring completion within 14 days.
  • Enter work requests into the system for identified work, allowing ample lead time for planner involvement.
  • Enter urgent order requests, ensuring all requirements for parts, manpower, and shop time are met.
  • Enter work order history into the CMMS when required, particularly for urgent work performed.
  • Ensure input into the CMMS is accurate and up to date.
  • Oversee and coach the performance of direct reports.
  • Maintain partnerships with other departments through good communication practices.
  • Identify and groom potential subordinate(s)/candidates for succession planning purposes.
  • Ensure that filing and paperwork are kept up to date by all.
  • Collect and properly dispose of used service parts (oils, oil pails/barrels, filters, old hosing) to keep SLR compliant with site environmental requirements.
  • Undertake other duties as lawfully instructed.
  • Support peers.
  • Attend and participate in interdepartmental meetings where required.
  • Demonstrate respect for the incoming team.
  • Work collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals, both within own department and site-wide.
  • Leverage and use the talent and knowledge within the team to resolve problems.
  • Provide direct input into planning and scheduling.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of Policies and Procedures for the Mine Mechanical Maintenance team.
  • Identify and classify what requires urgent attention during equipment servicing and what can be directed through the planning department.
  • Proactively identify and address hazards before they arise as issues.
  • Be punctual to work and all required site meetings.
  • Maintain equipment files, keeping them current with Preventive Maintenance and Work order paperwork.
