Mobile Locksmith Technician
About The Position
Hillman is seeking a Mobile Locksmith Technician to join its growing Automotive Key Services team in Austin, Texas. The technician operates a fully equipped mobile service van and delivers automotive key cutting, duplication, programming, key fob, and other locksmith solutions directly to customers. Working alongside an Automotive Mobile Sales Representative, the technician serves as the technical expert in the field while providing a seamless, customer-first experience. The role combines advanced automotive technology, independent field work, customer interaction, and opportunities to develop technical expertise and advance within a growing organization. The technician manages the mobile workspace, keeps inventory and equipment ready, coordinates appointments and service activities, troubleshoots customer issues, and represents Hillman professionally. Travel to one store location per day within a 50-mile radius is expected. Typical hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with schedule options of Thursday–Monday or Friday–Tuesday; weekend availability is required. Compensation is $25 per hour plus 5% commission on sales. Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus, but not required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a locksmith license where required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic computer, email, and mobile technology proficiency.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to work in a mobile, field-based environment.
- Flexibility to work weekends and varying schedules as business needs require.
