About The Position

Hillman is hiring a Mobile Locksmith Technician for its Automotive Key Services team in Austin, Texas. The technician operates a fully equipped mobile service van and provides automotive key cutting, duplication, programming, key fob services, and other locksmith solutions at customer locations. Working alongside an Automotive Mobile Sales Representative, the technician serves as the field technical expert, diagnoses customer needs, recommends solutions, troubleshoots issues, and delivers a seamless, customer-focused experience. The role includes managing the van as a mobile workspace: maintaining inventory, supplies, equipment readiness, and a professional, organized environment; coordinating appointments and daily service activities; and traveling to one store location per day within a 50-mile radius. Technicians work independently in the field while contributing to business growth and customer satisfaction. Typical hours are 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with schedule options of Thursday–Monday or Friday–Tuesday. Weekend availability is required, and schedules may vary with business needs. Compensation is $25 per hour plus 5% commission on sales. A high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, and the ability to obtain and maintain a locksmith license where required are required. Locksmith, automotive service, key programming, vehicle electronics, technical troubleshooting, and customer-facing service experience are preferred. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are a plus.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
