About The Position
Open Door Community Health Centers is seeking a compassionate, mission-driven General Dentist for its Mobile Dental Outreach Van team serving communities throughout Humboldt County, California. The role brings high-quality dental care directly to underserved and vulnerable populations. The Mobile Dentist provides comprehensive oral health services, including examinations, preventive care, restorations, extractions, and patient education. The dentist works with patients of all ages and collaborates with hygienists, dental assistants, and outreach staff to assess needs, provide evidence-based care, and promote oral health as part of overall wellbeing. The mobile dental program partners with schools, shelters, community centers, and public health initiatives to improve access to care across the rural region. The position suits someone passionate about community dentistry and comfortable in a hands-on, flexible environment.
Requirements
- DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school.
- Current California dental license, DEA, and CPR certification, or ability to obtain them.
- Experience or strong interest in community dentistry, public health, or working with underserved populations.

Responsibilities
- Deliver preventive, diagnostic, and restorative dental services from the fully equipped mobile dental van.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to diverse and underserved populations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to connect patients with medical, behavioral, and community resources.
- Educate patients about oral health and preventive practices.
- Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and community outreach events.
