About The Position

The Caddo Levee District maintains and operates levee systems along the right descending bank of the Red River and the levee systems of Twelve Mile Bayou and Black Bayou, protecting lives and property year-round and during emergencies. The Mobile Equipment Operator 2 operates mobile equipment, including field tractors with attachments, as a primary job function. The position also performs minor equipment repairs and routine user maintenance to keep equipment safe, clean, and in good working order. The operator provides guidance to lower-level operators and laborers and may operate equipment assigned to Mobile Equipment Operator I as needed. Supervisory personnel may assign additional duties.

This is a probational appointment of up to 24 months and does not participate in a Career Progression Group. Anticipated work hours are four 12-hour days, Monday through Thursday. Salary is determined based on qualifications and experience. No Civil Service test score or assessment is required for consideration.

Requirements

• One year of experience in mobile equipment operations.
• Ability to maintain safety by following rules and procedures.
• Ability to accept and follow directions from those higher in the chain of command.
• Ability to work with others toward a common goal.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile equipment, including field tractors with attachments such as brush hogs and blades, and other equipment to perform transportation, maintenance, or construction tasks.
• Perform incidental repair and construction tasks.
• Make minor equipment repairs and perform routine user maintenance to keep equipment clean and in good working order.
• Provide guidance to and oversee the work of lower-graded operators and laborers.
• Operate equipment enumerated for Mobile Equipment Operator I when necessary to accomplish work objectives.
• Perform additional duties assigned by supervisory personnel.
