About The Position

High Plains Mental Health Center is expanding its crisis services and is seeking individuals to join their Mobile Crisis Response team. The role involves responding to real-time mental health crises in the community, providing in-the-moment support to de-escalate crises and help individuals find stability. The Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) Case Manager will respond directly to mental health crisis calls in the community, meeting individuals where they are to provide timely, compassionate, on-site support. The role requires serving as a calm presence during high-stress situations, using trauma-informed de-escalation techniques to help individuals regain a sense of safety, control, and stability. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary crisis response team, law enforcement, emergency services, and community partners is essential for coordinated, person-centered care. The position involves providing short-term, impactful support to stabilize individuals in crisis and reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and emergency room visits. Responsibilities include developing safety plans, identifying coping strategies, and connecting individuals and families to community resources and ongoing supports. Maintaining clear, timely documentation of services and participating in required training for crisis response, trauma-informed care, and safety procedures are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • Experience counts! We accept equivalent work experience in human services (teaching, daycare, CNA, etc.) or a BA/BS degree. One year of related work = one year of college.
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must pass drug screen
  • Must pass all required background checks (KBI, KDADS, etc)
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license; [MVR will be checked]. No substance-related driving offenses in the past 5 years
  • Physically & mentally capable of working in high-pressure situations and responding to emergencies

Responsibilities

  • Respond directly to mental health crisis calls in the community—meeting individuals where they “live, work, and play”—to provide timely, compassionate, on-site support.
  • Serve as a calm, steady presence during high-stress situations. Use trauma-informed de-escalation techniques to help individuals regain a sense of safety, control, and stability.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary crisis response team, law enforcement, emergency services, and community partners to ensure coordinated, person-centered care.
  • Provide short-term, impactful support designed to stabilize individuals in crisis and reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and emergency room visits.
  • Develop safety plans, identify coping strategies, and connect individuals & families to community resources and ongoing supports once the immediate crisis has passed.
  • Maintain clear, timely documentation of services.
  • Participate in required training for crisis response, trauma-informed care, and safety procedures.
