About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a Sr. or Lead Medical Assistant, the MOA Extern supports patient flow by preparing and supplying examination rooms for scheduled appointments. The extern observes a Sr. or Lead Medical Assistant while assisting patients. This role’s listed responsibilities are considered essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act; related duties not listed are not considered essential functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment in a Medical Assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from examination and/or procedure areas.
• Shadow a Lead or Sr. Medical Assistant while they perform vital signs, phlebotomy, and EKGs.
• Review scheduled appointments to determine needed supplies.
• Obtain and set up supplies and equipment in advance.
• Perform related duties as required.
