About The Position

The MLS Coordinator works with the Director of Laboratory Operations and Department Supervisor to make recommendations, interpret policy, and ensure employees follow department and hospital policies. The role assists with personnel management and maintaining the department’s fiscal integrity, and actively participates in assuring the quality of departmental testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science; completion of an AMA-approved laboratory training program; MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification; and three years of experience working in the respective area; or
• Associate’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science; completion of an AMA-approved laboratory training program; MLT(ASCP) or equivalent certification; and three years of experience working in the respective area; or
• Previously qualified, or eligible to have qualified, as a general supervisor before 2/29/92 under 42 CFR 493.1427 (3/14/90).

Responsibilities

• Initiate corrective action.
• Assist with management of personnel.
• Assist with maintaining the department’s fiscal integrity.
