About The Position

The primary requirements of the Mixer Operator are to properly mix and process compounds through the mixer within allowable specifications. This role involves operating assigned machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. The position requires the operator to lift bags weighing up to 55 lbs. from a transfer wagon and stage them on the charge conveyor, manually adjust the location of bales on the conveyor, and perform repetitive motions such as sweeping and scraping the mixer. The operator will communicate with additional staff members and is responsible for the operation of the Mixer, Skid unloader, Bale Cutter, Weigh Conveyor, and Charge conveyor. This role also involves following the production schedule, assisting in establishing and maintaining compound processing procedures, filling out applicable paperwork, emptying oil buckets, and assisting in staging and organizing raw materials. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area according to 5S standards, supporting continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives, and adhering to all safety policies and wearing required PPE are also key responsibilities. The operator must be capable of maintaining quality control by monitoring production output and identifying any issues with the product or process. Additional tasks may be assigned by the Shift Supervisor, including operating a forklift for various functions.

Requirements

  • One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • High School or GED preferred
  • Willing to work overtime including weekends as needed
  • Close visual work required
  • Knowledge of general computer skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, and use upper extremities while occasionally sitting, crouching, and bending
  • Ability to climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds and perform necessary job tasks

Responsibilities

  • Operate assigned machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
  • Lift bags, weighing a maximum of 55 lbs. out of a transfer wagon and stage them on the charge conveyor three to five feet away
  • Manually adjust the location of the bale on the conveyor
  • Perform repetitive motion sweeping and scarping the mixer
  • Communicate with the additional staff member
  • Responsible for operation of the Mixer, Skid unloader, Bale Cutter, Weigh Conveyor and Charge conveyor
  • Following production schedule and maintaining pace as outlined in mixing procedures
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining compound processing procedures
  • Fill out any applicable paperwork
  • Empty oil buckets on the mezzanine
  • Assist in staging and organizing raw materials
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area (5S standards)
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Adhere to all safety policies and wear required PPE
  • Capable of maintaining quality control by monitoring production output
  • Ability to identify any issues with the product or process
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the Shift Supervisor
