About The Position

Mixer I is an entry-level mixer position. Employees learn mixing processes, equipment operation, product specifications, safety requirements, and documentation procedures while progressing through established qualification requirements. The role involves operating and tending machines that mix or blend a wide variety of food products, including edible oils, dressings, margarines, spreads, shortenings, vinegars, and cooking wines. Employees monitor and regulate gauges, recording instruments, flow meters, and thermometers to adjust raw-material additions, mixing temperatures, and mixing speeds while maintaining product quality and safe, efficient operations. They also perform housekeeping, rework, packaging preparation and product packaging, follow mix instructions, and document production work. The role is based in Nashville and is available on first, second, or third shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer knowledge, including data entry.
• Successfully complete designated training and qualification requirements for assigned mixer systems.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and to climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel, stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights.
• Ability to walk throughout the plant and climb stairs and portable or fixed ladders.
• Appropriate visual, hearing, speaking, smell, and touch acuity to identify and respond to normal, abnormal, and alarm conditions.
• Ability to work through complex problems and processes logically and methodically and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Willingness and ability to learn mixing operations and production processes; reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous learning.

• Experience with mixing machine operation, blending, the food industry, or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Learn mixing processes, equipment operation, product specifications, safety requirements, and documentation procedures.
• Construct and adjust recipes and understand basic mix variations, including salt content, moisture, and color.
• Understand process flow and trace flow and lines throughout the process.
• Operate and tend machines used to mix or blend food products.
• Monitor and regulate gauges, recording instruments, flow meters, and thermometers; adjust raw-material additions, mixing temperatures, and mixing speeds to maintain product quality and safe, efficient operation.
• Operate CIP skids and break down and clean line components.
• Follow chemical-handling procedures, including required PPE.
• Complete documentation regarding product movements, batch sheets, and ingredient additions.
• Perform general housekeeping, rework, packaging preparation, product packaging, and other duties assigned by supervision.
• Demonstrate safe operation of assigned equipment under the guidance of qualified personnel.
• Learn and apply product specifications, process controls, quality standards, and food safety requirements.
• Develop proficiency in equipment setup, operation, cleaning, and documentation procedures.
• Complete training and qualification requirements for assigned mixer systems and pass the qualification test.
• Perform a variety of tasks as required and work the bid shift, overtime, and weekends as required.
