Mixed-Signal Verification Engineer

Apple•San Diego, CA

About The Position

Join Apple’s wireless silicon development team, which develops wireless system-on-chip (SoC) technology with an emphasis on energy efficiency and innovations that improve the product user experience. The team spans RF/analog, systems and PHY/MAC architecture, VLSI/RTL, emulation, design verification, test and validation, and firmware/software engineering. As a Mixed Signal Design Verification Engineer, you will verify RF and mixed-signal blocks and their interfaces within the wireless SoC. You will work with analog/RF design, digital design and verification, and wireless systems teams to develop verification methodologies that ensure correct silicon functionality while balancing coverage and time to tapeout. The role includes reviewing specifications, planning and executing verification, developing UVM testbenches and tests, debugging and coverage analysis, and improving verification workflows and methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Industry verification experience with RF/mixed-signal blocks and SoCs.
  • Expertise building mixed-signal testbenches, checkers, and tests using SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with UVM methodology and HDL, including SystemVerilog and Verilog, for verification.
  • Strong verification skills in problem solving, testing, and debugging.
  • Understanding of common analog/RF blocks.
  • Ability to work well in a team and be productive under an aggressive schedule.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivation, organization, and willingness to take on diverse challenges.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with UPF, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Experience with Virtuoso Composer, ADE, and HED.
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a technical discipline and at least 5 years of hands-on mixed-signal verification experience.
  • Wireless experience.
  • Expertise creating and using real-numbered analog behavioral models in SystemVerilog.

Responsibilities

  • Review specifications, extract features, and define and execute verification plans.
  • Develop top-level and block-level mixed-signal and digital testbenches and generate tests in a UVM framework.
  • Build and reuse monitors and checkers for RF and mixed-signal blocks.
  • Debug failures; fix testbench, model, and checker issues; manage bug tracking; and analyze and close coverage.
  • Write scripts to automate workflows.
  • Improve mixed-signal verification methodology with novel ideas and by leveraging AI.
  • Collaborate with the analog design team and other engineering teams.
