About The Position
The Minerals and Metals (M&M) Division team at AtkinsRéalis provides tailored engineering solutions to the mining industry, integrating environmental considerations at every stage of a mining project—from initial engineering phases through construction, closure, and post-closure monitoring. Our services help clients meet the highest standards and best practices in environmental management for mining operations. Requirements
- University degree in Civil or Geological Engineering and a graduate degree (Master’s and/or Ph.D.) in Geotechnics, or equivalent experience
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for membership
- Mining experience: 5 to 8 years in designing tailings containment structures
- ASP Construction safety card
- Strong knowledge of French and English
- Familiarity with slope stability, seepage, and stress-deformation analysis software
- Experience in dynamic analysis and seismicity
- Excellent teamwork skills within multidisciplinary engineering teams composed mainly of geotechnical engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, and environmental specialists
Responsibilities
- Participate in the design of tailings facilities and related structures, including preparation and review of plans and specifications
- Contribute to the development of mine restoration concepts
- Inspect dams with junior engineers
- Act as Engineer of Record (EoR)
- Lead projects (approximately 800 hours)
- Mentor junior engineers and actively participate in conferences
