Dewberry is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with at least 5 years of experience to work in our Eastern, Central, or Western PA locations. The successful candidate will be part of a team designing simple and complex bridges and a variety of transportation related structures. The candidate will perform geotechnical field reconnaissance, prepare and administer boring contracts, perform geotechnical calculations, and prepare Geotechnical and Foundation Recommendation Reports. The candidate will also be involved in the development of proposals, contract plans, the preparation of engineer's estimates and construction specifications, and performing construction support services. Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering (MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike Commission
  • Experience in the use of PennDOT design specifications and AASHTO
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is required (PE preferred)
  • Proficiency using CADD (Microstation preferred)
  • Proficiency in MS Office software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A desire to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in the use of LPile, GRLweap, DRIVEN, SLIDE and gINT.
  • Experience with structure related foundation design for transportation projects including: Bridges, Retaining Walls, Culverts, Reinforced Soil Slopes, Temporary Shoring, Sign Structures, Contract Plans, Engineer’s Estimates, Construction Specifications, Shop Drawing Review
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs geotechnical related design for transportation projects including slope stability.
  • Prepares Subsurface Exploration Planning Submissions, Foundation Recommendation Reports and other geotechnical related reports.
  • Coordinates with bridge structural designers.
  • Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.
  • Assist with proposal development.
