About The Position

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The recruitment period has been broadened and extended to allow for a larger applicant pool. This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Fairbanks, or Juneau. Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual. As a mining engineer, you will be responsible for writing and maintaining wastewater discharge and solid waste management permits for mine facilities, serving as a technical expert on issues related to mining and mine engineering, understanding and applying state and federal laws including the Clean Water Act and the Alaska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, and advising management on policy issues relevant to your expertise.

Requirements

Must possess and maintain an Alaska professional engineering license.
Valid Alaska Driver's License is required
Requires regular travel within the State, including to remote areas to conduct site visits.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
One year of professional experience as an Engineering Associate 1 (or the equivalent) with the State of Alaska or elsewhere.
Professional engineering includes the branches listed in 12 AAC 36.990 (17).
Positions in this class require professional registration as an Engineer with the State of Alaska.
Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b).
Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
Environmental Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the quality of the environment and its resources; and to monitor, control, abate, and prevent pollutants.
Mining Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods related to rock mechanics; the exploration, excavation, extraction, processing and transporting of mineral resources; and the conservation and development of mineral lands, materials, and deposits.
Written Communication: Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.
