MineStar Solution Architect

Caterpillar•Irving, TX

About The Position

The MineStar Solution Architect is a hands-on architecture leader for Caterpillar’s MineStar Office product suite, the software mine operators use to plan, monitor, and manage mining operations. The role bridges application design and software delivery, producing clear, high-quality architecture designs and working closely with engineering teams to deliver aligned, pragmatic, scalable outcomes. It is not purely conceptual or governance-led: the architect brings engineering credibility and works close to code and implementation so decisions are practical, executable, and valuable. The position aligns MineStar Office technical direction with Caterpillar enterprise strategy and leads the product suite’s technical roadmap. It defines scalable, maintainable, and secure application architectures; incorporates security, performance, and availability requirements from the outset; and applies engineering judgment to balance delivery speed with long-term sustainability. The architect reviews implementation approaches, including detailed design and code-level decisions where appropriate. The role creates and maintains useful architecture artifacts, including application and solution views, logical and physical design models, integration and data-flow designs, deployment designs, technology selections, trade-offs, and architecture decision records. The architect collaborates with engineers, product owners, delivery leads, platform teams, commercial teams, and other Caterpillar product lines to translate needs into executable designs, support delivery and estimates, address risks and constraints, mentor engineers, and evolve architecture standards and patterns. The role also identifies opportunities to simplify or modernize the application landscape and reduce technical debt. The position is located in Dallas, Texas, and requires up to 15% domestic and international travel. Domestic U.S. relocation assistance is offered; work sponsorship is not offered.
