About The Position

NAC Constructors Ltd. (NAC) is a well-known construction company specializing in water and wastewater projects across Canada. With a team of nearly 500 skilled professionals, NAC handles projects from conception to completion, with extensive experience in civil, structural, process mechanical, building mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation work. The company prioritizes quality and safety in all its projects, which range from water filtration and wastewater treatment to dams and ethanol plants. NAC is seeking a Millwright Apprentice with construction experience to join their team for a Water Pollution Control Plant project in Kemptville, ON. Under the guidance of a Journeyperson Millwright, the apprentice will assist in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing stationary machinery and mechanical equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of construction industry practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Must be a registered Millwright apprentice
  • 1-3 years of experience working in the construction environment
  • Possess personal basic hand tools
  • Hoisting and rigging experience
  • Experience setting pumps
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current
  • Valid WHMIS, Elevated Work Platform and Working at Heights/Fall Arrest are required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience installing large pipe is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Installing and maintaining industrial machinery
  • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment
  • Observing and complying with all health and safety regulations and ensuring any apprentices under your direction comply
  • Operating and maintaining tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of mechanical blueprints and shop drawings
  • Operating builders level/laser level
  • Installing/plumbing/leveling drive mechanisms, pumps, mixers, and various other process equipment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to give clear direction to other workers
  • Handling and transporting job materials to the work area as needed
  • Performing other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitations
