About The Position

The Milling Machine Machinist 2 will set up and operate horizontal, vertical, and universal milling machines to perform precision machining operations on aerospace and manufacturing components. This role is responsible for machining complex parts to exact tolerances, programming and operating CNC equipment, selecting tooling and fixtures, and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. Responsibilities include performing contouring, boring, spline and gear cutting, planning machining sequences, setting machine speeds and feeds, using precision measuring instruments, and ensuring compliance with quality and process standards. The machinist will also support fixture design, tooling development, and prototype or experimental fabrication activities within a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of machining experience in aerospace, military, or manufacturing environments
  • Experience programming and operating 3-axis and/or 5-axis CNC machines
  • Experience with Mastercam or related CAM software
  • Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to design and create custom fixtures and tooling
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 35 lbs, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance and Special Program Access
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aviation rapid prototyping or experimental fabrication environments
  • Experience using NX or other CAD modeling software
  • Experience machining composites, aluminum, titanium, and Inconel materials
  • Active Secret Clearance within the last 5 1/2 years
  • Aerospace parts manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Knowledge of ERP/SAP systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and self-motivation
