About The Position

The Mill Operator (Bridgeport) is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating the Mill. This role specializes in operating one type of machine tool (Mill) used in making or maintaining jigs, fixtures or gages. The operator will plan and perform difficult operations which require complicated setups or a high degree of accuracy. They will determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling and operation sequence or select those prescribed in drawings, blueprints or layouts while using a variety of precision measuring instruments. The operator will also maintain a workable supply of perishable tools required in the operation of machinery, as well as supply charts of Q1 functions. Assists at other machines in Manufacturing when needed.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of machine shop practices.
• Journeyman (machining) or 6 years equivalent experience.
• Degree of mechanical aptitude.
• Mathematics skills.
• Print reading skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage one’s time effectively.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge/experience with other machines (lathe, manual mill, I.D./O.D. Grind, jig grind).
