About The Position

The Mill Operator (Bridgeport) is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating the Mill. This role specializes in operating one type of machine tool (Mill) used in making or maintaining jigs, fixtures or gages. The operator will plan and perform difficult operations which require complicated setups or a high degree of accuracy. They will determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling and operation sequence or select those prescribed in drawings, blueprints or layouts while using a variety of precision measuring instruments. The operator will also maintain a workable supply of perishable tools required in the operation of machinery, as well as supply charts of Q1 functions. Secondary responsibilities include assisting at other machines in Manufacturing when needed.

Requirements

Requires extensive knowledge of machine shop practices usually acquired through extensive on the job training and experience.
Journeyman (machining) or 6 years equivalent experience.
Degree of mechanical aptitude, mathematics and print reading skills
Ability to work independently and to manage one’s time effectively

Nice To Haves

Knowledge/experience with other machines (lathe, manual mill, I.D./O.D. Grind, jig grind) is not required but is beneficial.
