About The Position

The Division of Facilities is hiring a Military Firefighter, Driver and Operator that, under general supervision of the Crew Chief, is responsible for the operation of specialized fire fighting equipment.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Must have one year of experience in fire fighting operations.
  • One hundred and fifty hours of documented fire service training will substitute for the one year of fire fighting operations.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification.
  • Prior to completion of probationary period, must obtain a Military driver's license, Department of Defense Fire Fighter II certification, Department of Defense Airport Fire Fighter certification, Department of Defense Driver/Operator (ARFF) certification and Department of Defense Hazardous Materials Operations certification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains apparatus, equipment and fire center in a readiness state to mitigate emergency incidents.
  • Drives and operates fire apparatus at emergency incidents.
  • Performs interior, exterior, aircraft, and wildland fire attack with crew chief's supervision for purpose of rescue and fire extinguishment.
  • Performs first responder emergency medical support, hazardous materials, confined space, water and rope rescue response.
  • Promotes fire prevention; inspects and pre-plans on site buildings, fire alarm systems, and fire extinguishers.
  • Responds to offsite emergencies responsive to requests pursuant to authorized mutual-aid agreements.
  • Participates in training exercises and assessments with mutual aid agreement partners.
  • Participates in fire training activities, maintains certifications, reviews regulations and procedures pertaining to fire, emergency operations, and daily functions.
  • May assume the duties and responsibilities of the crew chief in their absence.
