About The Position

The Milieu Coordinator (MC I or MC II) facilitates therapeutic groups based on the core curriculum and provides meal monitoring and support. The role offers milieu support, de-escalation, and behavior coaching to patients in Inpatient/Residential and Partial Hospitalization programs. Depending on business needs, the coordinator may be required to work on-call shifts in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local labor laws. The schedule is PRN/as needed, with a minimum of 24 hours (two 12-hour shifts) per month. MC II coordinators lead more advanced groups. In standalone programs, coordinators may serve as the clinical lead during evenings and weekends.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health or a related field.
• For MC I: at least 6 months of experience in behavioral health or a related field.
• For MC II: at least 18 months of experience in behavioral health or a related field; this requirement may be waived with a relevant master’s degree.

Nice To Haves

• For MC II: graduate degree in mental health or a related degree program.
• For MC II: intern or associate license from the appropriate state licensing board.
• For MC II: at least 1 year of experience facilitating groups.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate curriculum-based therapeutic groups.
• Provide meal monitoring and support.
• Document groups, meals, patient check-ins, and observations.
• Provide milieu support, including de-escalation and crisis management.
• Monitor bathrooms and outside breaks.
• Conduct self-harm and suicide assessments.
• Support morning routines in Inpatient/Residential programs.
• Collect weights, vitals, and urine in some settings.
• Implement individual behavior management plans for some patients.
• Serve as clinical lead for standalone programs during evenings and weekends.
• Lead more advanced groups as an MC II.
• Work on-call shifts when required by business needs.
