About The Position

The Milieu Coordinator coordinates and supervises milieu staff in providing direct client care during a work shift. The role supports client wellbeing and maintains a positive, structured, and supportive environment under the direction of a charge nurse or supervisor. This is an onsite, individual-contributor position at Bel Aire Recovery Center in Bel Aire, Kansas.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and at least four years of behavioral health experience, or an associate degree in a human service field and at least two years of behavioral health experience.
Understanding of common psychiatric disorders and/or dual diagnosis and treatment modalities for the population served.
Exceptional knowledge of and skills in verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention.
CPR certification and de-escalation training; training is available upon hire and offered by the facility.

Responsibilities

Monitor shift changes, assign staff, review unit staffing, and adjust assignments as needed.
Facilitate and monitor client care and programming.
Assist the Charge Nurse with BHA assignments, group coverage, charting, breaks, environmental and safety rounds, and codes.
Promote client wellbeing and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment under the direction of a charge nurse or supervisor.
Use de-escalation techniques to help manage clients’ emotions, behavior, and participation in treatment.
Facilitate individual admissions, discharges, and client transfers.
Facilitate person-centered planning to assess individuals’ needs and develop plans.
Ensure client information and progress are documented accurately and promptly.
Train and mentor direct care staff during the shift as needed or assigned.
Audit individual records for regulatory compliance and report issues to a supervisor as needed.
Respond to concerns from individuals, families, and guardians.
Report pertinent information to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Assist clients and cover the unit as necessary to maintain staffing ratios.
