About The Position

The welder is responsible for operating appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision, this is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure. They also will repair products that do not meet the customers needs.

Requirements

  • One to Three years experience with MIG & TIG welding and fabrication processes.
  • Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, and/or measuring devices.
  • Follows processes and standard procedures.
  • Uses hand tools and power tools.
  • Work in a high energy, high volume, rapidly changing environment.
  • Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
  • Understands how to use the computers, including such tasks as turning the computer on and off, locating and opening files, navigate to websites, perform searches, and download files.
  • Performs consistently under stressful conditions.
  • Can handle frequent interruptions and can multi-task.
  • Analyzes and diagnoses problems and works independently to solve them.
  • Inspects equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Operate and/or use forklift, cranes, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting touches, hand tools, drills, punches, and instruments of measurement.
  • Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals.
  • Fill holes, cut, contour, and bevel metal plates and structural shapes to dimensions as specified by blueprints, layouts, workorders, and templates.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter using hand scrappers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts as necessary.
  • Tig & Mig Weld components using various materials such as Aluminum, Steel, and Invar.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
