Middleware Engineer – Software AG Stack
About The Position
CTG is seeking a Middleware Engineer for a client. The role administers, maintains, and supports the Software AG webMethods Product Suite v10.x or higher, including Integration Server, Universal Messaging, My webMethods Server (MWS), and API Gateway. The engineer manages B2B integrations and supports secure partner connectivity, production operations, and middleware environments. The position is remote and has a stated duration of 7 months. The role includes Linux/Unix administration and scripting, middleware performance optimization, security configuration, troubleshooting, deployments, configuration management, and ongoing improvement of middleware environments. The expected base salary is $48.00 to $52.00 per hour. CTG also states that a competitive benefit package is offered.
Requirements
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience administering and supporting webMethods v10.x or higher in enterprise environments.
- Experience with middleware performance optimization, production support, and secure enterprise integrations.
- Hands-on expertise with Software AG webMethods, including Integration Server, Universal Messaging, MWS, API Gateway, Trading Networks, and CloudStreams.
- Strong understanding of B2B integration, EDI/EDIINT, AS2/AS3, and secure partner connectivity.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration, Bash or Python scripting, and JVM performance tuning.
- Knowledge of enterprise security protocols, authentication, certificates, and network infrastructure.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and automation tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Ansible, and Software AG Command Central.
- Exposure to AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or Prometheus/Grafana.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support the Software AG webMethods Product Suite v10.x or higher, including Integration Server, Universal Messaging, My webMethods Server (MWS), and API Gateway.
- Manage B2B integrations using Trading Networks, CloudStreams, EDI/EDIINT, AS2/AS3 partner profiles, and routing configurations.
- Perform Linux/Unix administration, system automation, and log analysis using Bash or Python scripting.
- Optimize middleware performance through JVM tuning, garbage collection optimization, thread analysis, and database connection pooling.
- Configure and maintain security protocols, including SSL/TLS certificates, OAuth2, SAML, and JWT, and integrate with firewalls and load balancers.
- Troubleshoot production issues involving middleware performance, connectivity, integrations, and system reliability.
- Support deployments, configuration management, and continuous improvement of middleware environments.
