About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Pennsylvania K-12 Reading Specialist certificate
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working in schools, supporting students to realize success both academically and behaviorally
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and administer effective district-wide and school-specific professional development.
  • Experience collaboration with school-based administration and counselors to ensure student success
  • Experience using data to monitor students’ academic and behavioral progress
  • Ascribe to the philosophy that all children can succeed and demonstrates the commitment to do what is necessary to make this a reality

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor a plan for reading support based on school needs.
  • Provide small group (pull-out) reading instruction (before, during, and/or after school) to students in need of remediation.
  • Provide push-in reading intervention.
  • Provide whole-group reading instruction.
  • Facilitate small group/grade group professional development.
  • Model, co-plan, co-deliver and coach staff to support the delivery of effective reading instruction.
  • Assist classroom teachers by providing them with additional strategies for those students who have been identified for additional instruction.
  • Support school-wide screening process.
  • Review students' and school-wide reading data and trends to develop individualized and school-wide remediation plans.
  • Work with the classroom teacher to monitor student progress.
  • Run planning meetings with key groups of teachers.
  • Depending on building needs, may be asked lead classroom instruction or provide extended coverage.
  • Sit in on coaching meetings and leadership team meetings as needed.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
