As a Reading Interventionist at Veritas Prep, you’ll provide targeted reading interventions to students who have been identified for additional reading and literacy support. Specifically, you’ll provide and deliver focused tier 2 and 3 reading interventions identified by the Principal to students in small group settings. You will develop and deliver school-wide interventions through creation of lesson plans appropriate to the needs and abilities of assigned students through push-in or pull out instruction. You will use a variety of instructional techniques and reading materials appropriate for the age and skill level of students for the purpose of improving student outcomes and achievement. You will assist with the screening and evaluation of students. You will collect and report out on data reading intervention progress data bi-weekly to the school leadership team. You will aggregate and share relevant data with teachers and leaders. You will attend Content Team and Data Meetings. You will develop and deliver professional development related to supporting literacy in the classroom. You will provide the high-quality instruction time needed to move students to grade level proficiency. You will perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the school administrators. You will collaborate with the school librarian to encourage independent reading and fluency across the school. Veritas Prep believes students must be explicitly taught foundational reading skills in order to become proficient readers and access our grade-level anchor texts taught in literature class. We must teach foundational reading skills to our middle school readers in order to accelerate and solidify their growth. The foundational reading skills explicitly taught by the Reading Interventionist would include direct phonics instruction and direct fluency instruction and practice.
