The Middle School Principal is responsible for providing effective instructional leadership and is accountable for the school’s operation. Major responsibilities include the educational program, professional and classified staff, student development, facility maintenance and management, fiscal management activities, and developing effective community relations. The role involves leading the development, implementation, and communication of educational goals, providing strong and positive educational leadership in organizing, developing, and administering the instructional program. This includes utilizing test scores to identify areas of strength and weakness, communicating this information to staff for curriculum goal setting, and providing leadership in developing the necessary climate for change and growth within the school. The principal will supervise teaching staff and programs, assist in the selection, assignment, orientation, and evaluation of personnel, and ensure effective and efficient day-to-day operation of school facilities conducive to a positive learning environment. Oversight of custodial, cafeteria operations, and other support services to maintain an efficient, clean, safe, attractive, and functional facility is also required. The position demands effective organizational skills, prompt and accurate completion of duties, and the establishment and maintenance of effective discipline and a positive school climate. Financial and budget knowledge within the area of authority is necessary, along with responsible expenditures in accordance with the Board of Education's operational philosophy.
