About The Position

Classical Charter Schools is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. As one of the highest performing charter networks in New York City, Classical Charter Schools provides a transformative education through a classical curriculum focused on art, music, Latin, debate, and character education. Teachers at Classical are committed to maximizing student achievement by leading scholars to gap-closing academic gains and establishing highly structured classroom cultures. Successful teachers study, practice, and execute lessons using the rigorous classical curriculum, revise lessons for clarity and relevance, collect and analyze academic and behavior data, and collaborate with teams and coaches to implement instructional improvements. This is a salaried position with compensation ranging from $52,000 to $105,000, determined by credentials and years of experience.

Requirements

Teaching certification OR at least two years of teaching experience in science
Experience working at a high-performing charter school
Alignment to Classical Charter School’s mission and approach
Excellent work ethic and organizational skills
Demonstrated application of core values: Accountability, Innovation, Professionalism, Rigor, Tenacity, Transparency, and Urgency
Experience teaching in a high performing urban school

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Leading all scholars to gap-closing academic gains, ensuring scholars achieve mastery and advanced mastery of grade-level Common Core State Standards.
Establishing and maintaining a highly structured classroom culture where scholars demonstrate respect, responsibility, caring, trustworthiness, fairness, and citizenship.
Studying, practicing, and executing lessons that influence scholars to master daily standard-aligned objectives, faithfully using the rigorous, classical curriculum.
Revising lessons for clarity, rigor, and relevance, with guidance and support from instructional coaches.
Collecting and analyzing academic and behavior data to pinpoint scholar needs.
Collaborating in teams and with coaches to resolve challenges and implement instructional improvements driven by quantitative and qualitative data.
Proactively seeking and implementing feedback from team leaders and coaches to improve their practice.
