About The Position

LREI (Little Red School House & Elisabeth Irwin High School) seeks educators committed to exploring progressive pedagogy. Candidates with diverse experiences are encouraged to apply. The school is seeking a Mandarin Teacher for fifth through eighth grades for a leave position with a start date of January 28, 2027 and an end date of May 10, 2027. LREI seeks a full-time Mandarin teacher to teach sections of fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth graders. The candidate is responsible for familiarizing themselves with the existing curriculum, standards and assessments, as well as bringing their own interests and expertise to the classroom. Responsibilities include partnering with the other language teachers as well as serving as an advisor for a group of middle school students. Successful LREI teachers are lifelong learners who are reflective about their practice, and are earnest but flexible. They participate in the life of the division beyond their own classrooms, find ways to connect students to ‘real life’, and seek out professional development and leadership opportunities.

Requirements

  • Comfortable conducting instruction mostly in Mandarin.

Benefits

  • Annual full-time salary of $74,002.24 - $142,049.86 (depending on experience and education), prorated for time worked.
