About The Position

The Middle School Football Head Coach is responsible for instructing athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. This role also emphasizes instructing and demonstrating behaviors that foster character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride in student athletes. The coach is expected to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills through clinics, observations, and consultations. The position involves implementing athletic policies, adhering to system, state, and league regulations, and managing the coaching staff.

Requirements

  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (football).
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
  • Ability to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
  • Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
  • Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Bethel Park Schools' Board of Education.
  • Knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations.
  • Understanding of the proper administrative line of command.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment.
  • Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
  • Implement all approved athletic policies of the Bethel Park Schools' Board of Education.
  • Implement and interpret existing system, state, and league regulations.
  • Understand and utilize the proper administrative line of command.
  • Attend required public, staff, and departmental meetings.
  • Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff.
  • Design conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program.
  • Train and inform staff, encouraging professional growth through clinic attendance.
  • Delegate specific duties and supervise their implementation.
  • Analyze staff effectiveness and evaluate all assistants at the end of the season.
  • Maintain discipline, adjust grievances, and work to increase morale and cooperation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the athletic director/principal.
