About The Position

The Middle School Football Assistant Coach will assist in instructing athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. This role also involves instructing and demonstrating behaviors that foster character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride in student athletes. The assistant coach is expected to upgrade their knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.

Requirements

  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
  • Willingness to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
  • Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
  • Thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Bethel Park Schools' Board of Education.
  • Knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations.
  • Understanding of the proper administrative line of command.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing and supervising the total sports program.
  • Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
  • Instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment.
  • Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
  • Implement all athletic policies approved by the Bethel Park Schools' Board of Education.
  • Implement and interpret system, state, and league regulations.
  • Refer all requests or grievances through proper channels.
  • Attend public/staff/departmental meetings as required.
  • Assist in establishing the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff.
  • Assist in designing conferences, clinics, and staff meetings.
  • Assist in training and informing staff, and encourage professional growth.
  • Assist in supervising the implementation of duties and analyzing staff effectiveness.
  • Assist in maintaining discipline, adjusting grievances, and working to increase morale and cooperation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the athletic director/principal.
