About The Position

Veolia is seeking a senior process engineering professional to lead process design for ultrapure water (UPW) treatment solutions serving the microelectronics industry. The role may be based anywhere in North America and supports customers throughout the solution lifecycle, including sales, execution, commissioning, and operation. The engineer applies technical expertise alongside knowledge of customer processes, markets, regulations, and competitors to balance capital and operating costs, technical risk, and project success. The position also involves building long-term customer and industry relationships, presenting at conferences and technical forums, contributing to innovation, and training and mentoring others in process design. Success requires strong system-integration skills, including identifying and communicating how individual unit processes affect upstream and downstream processes. Travel within North America may be up to 10%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in an engineering field; Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Another technical discipline may qualify when combined with process design and hands-on UPW system experience.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in UPW treatment design; a combination of process design experience and field operations background will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience with UPW treatment processes and system design or operation for the microelectronics industry.
  • Proven ability to integrate multiple unit operations into cohesive, optimized treatment systems.
  • Confident, clear communication and presentation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise sound engineering judgment under changing conditions.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to take ownership of system integration.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% within North America.
  • Must be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; the employer will not sponsor U.S. work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with process design software or tools such as WinFlows, WAVE, and/or GasCAD (Liqui-Cel GTM).
  • Strong proficiency with spreadsheet tools such as Google Sheets and Excel.
  • Professional Engineer licensure (PE, P.Eng., or Ing.) in a U.S. or Canadian jurisdiction, or willingness to obtain licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop water chemistry characterization and design bases, including for reclaim-to-UPW applications.
  • Select and design unit processes, size equipment, and establish process guarantees.
  • Apply treatment technologies including solids separation, low- and high-pressure membrane treatment (ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and conventional and high-pH reverse osmosis), ion exchange, UV treatment, and gas-transfer membrane processes.
  • Own system integration across multiple unit operations or collaborate closely with a dedicated system integrator on complex flowsheets.
  • Evaluate system operation under design and upset conditions, identify potential failure points, and participate in detailed hazard and operability reviews (HAZOPs).
  • Engage in piloting and benchmarking treatability studies for design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of UPW treatment solutions.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers and key industry experts.
  • Present at industry conferences and technical forums to position Veolia as a UPW expert in the microelectronics market.
  • Contribute as a business expert to innovation in solutions, technologies, and markets.
  • Train and mentor others in process design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional bidding and project-execution teams and manage competing priorities.
