About The Position

Veolia is seeking a senior process engineering professional to support customers in the North American market with ultrapure water (UPW) treatment solutions for the microelectronics industry. The role supports the sale, execution, commissioning, and operation of complete systems. It applies technical knowledge of treatment technologies alongside understanding of customer processes, the market, regulations, and competitors to balance capital and operating costs, technical risk, and project success. The position involves developing water chemistry characterizations and design bases, selecting and designing unit processes, sizing equipment, and establishing process guarantees. The engineer applies technologies such as solids separation, membrane treatment, ion exchange, UV treatment, and gas-transfer membrane processes. They integrate multiple unit operations, assess system performance under design and upset conditions, identify potential failure points, participate in HAZOP reviews, and engage in piloting and benchmarking studies for design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and improvement. The engineer also builds customer and industry relationships, presents at conferences and technical forums, contributes to innovation, and trains and mentors others in process design. The position can be based anywhere in North America and requires willingness to travel up to 10% within North America. Applicants must be eligible to work lawfully in the U.S. immediately; Veolia will not sponsor U.S. work authorization for this opportunity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in an engineering field; Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred, or another technical discipline combined with process design and hands-on UPW system experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in UPW treatment design; a combination of process design experience and field operations background will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience with UPW treatment processes and system design or operation for the microelectronics industry.
  • Proven ability to integrate multiple unit operations into cohesive, optimized treatment systems.
  • Clear, concise communication and presentation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise strong engineering judgment under changing conditions.
  • Strong team collaboration skills and ability to take ownership of system integration.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% within North America.
  • Must be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor U.S. work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with process design software and tools such as WinFlows, WAVE, and/or GasCAD (Liqui-Cel GTM).
  • Strong proficiency with spreadsheet tools such as Google Sheets and Excel.
  • Professional Engineer licensure (PE / P.Eng. / Ing.) in a U.S. or Canadian jurisdiction, or willingness to obtain licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize water chemistry and develop design bases, including for reclaim-to-UPW applications.
  • Select and design unit processes, size equipment, and develop process guarantees.
  • Apply advanced treatment technologies to meet microelectronics industry requirements, including solids separation, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis (conventional and high-pH), ion exchange, UV treatment, and gas-transfer membrane processes.
  • Integrate systems across multiple unit operations or collaborate with a dedicated system integrator on complex flowsheets.
  • Evaluate system operation under design and upset conditions, identify potential failure points, and participate in HAZOP reviews.
  • Participate in piloting and benchmarking treatability studies for design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and communicate how unit processes affect upstream and downstream processes.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers and industry experts.
  • Present at industry conferences and technical forums to position Veolia as a UPW expert in the microelectronics market.
  • Contribute expertise to innovation in solutions, technologies, and markets.
  • Train and mentor others in process design.
  • Work within cross-functional bidding and project-execution teams while managing competing priorities and balancing autonomy with collaboration.
