About The Position

Veolia’s Water Technology Business is seeking a senior process engineering professional to support customers across the North American market. The role may be based anywhere in North America. As a technical leader on the Process Engineering team, you will support the sale, execution, commissioning, and operation of complete ultrapure water (UPW) treatment solutions. You will apply technical knowledge of treatment technologies and an understanding of customer processes, markets, regulations, and competitors to balance capital and operating costs, technical risk, and project success. The position includes developing water chemistry characterizations and design bases, selecting and designing unit processes, sizing equipment, establishing process guarantees, and integrating multiple treatment operations into cohesive systems. You will evaluate system performance in design and upset conditions, identify potential failure points, participate in HAZOP reviews, and contribute to piloting, benchmarking, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. You will also build relationships with customers and industry experts, present at conferences and technical forums, contribute to innovation, and train and mentor others in process design. Success requires clear communication of how individual processes affect upstream and downstream operations, confident leadership in cross-functional teams, sound engineering judgment, effective prioritization, and a balance of independent ownership and collaboration. Travel of up to 10% within North America is expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an engineering field; Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Another technical discipline may be considered with a combination of process design and hands-on UPW system experience.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in UPW treatment design; a combination of process design experience and a field-operations background will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience with UPW treatment processes and system design or operation for the microelectronics industry.
  • Proven ability to integrate multiple unit operations into cohesive, optimized treatment systems.
  • Confident communication and leadership in cross-functional bidding and project-execution teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and balance autonomy with collaboration.
  • Clear, concise communication and presentation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise strong engineering judgment under changing conditions.
  • Strong team collaboration skills and ability to take ownership of system integration.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE / P.Eng. / Ing.) in a U.S. or Canadian jurisdiction, or willingness to obtain licensure.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% within North America.
  • Must be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; the employer will not sponsor U.S. work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with process design software and tools such as WinFlows, WAVE, and/or GasCAD (Liqui-Cel GTM).
  • Strong proficiency with spreadsheet tools such as Google Sheets and Excel.
  • Professional Engineer licensure in a U.S. or Canadian jurisdiction; willingness to obtain licensure is also accepted.
  • Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize water chemistry and develop design bases, including for reclaim-to-UPW applications.
  • Select and design unit processes, size equipment, and develop process guarantees.
  • Apply advanced treatment technologies to meet microelectronics-industry requirements, including solids separation, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, conventional and high-pH reverse osmosis, ion exchange, UV treatment, and gas-transfer membrane processes.
  • Integrate systems across multiple unit operations or collaborate closely with a dedicated system integrator on complex flowsheets.
  • Evaluate system operation under design and upset conditions, identify potential points of failure, and participate in detailed hazard and operability reviews (HAZOPs).
  • Engage in piloting and benchmarking treatability studies for design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of UPW solutions.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers and industry experts.
  • Present at industry conferences and technical forums to position Veolia as a UPW expert in the microelectronics market.
  • Participate in innovation of solutions, technologies, and markets.
  • Train and mentor others in process design.
  • Communicate the upstream and downstream impacts of unit processes and take ownership of system integration.
  • Travel up to 10% within North America.
