About The Position

Our site in Billerica, MA is seeking a Microanalysis Scientist Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration. In this role, you will join Entegris’ Micro-analysis team, which is developing a method to evaluate the particle size distribution or pore size distribution based on SEM or 3D confocal images and advanced software. You will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge analytical instruments and contribute to method development and routine analytical services.

Requirements

  • Open-minded, curious, and eager to learn new technologies and analytical techniques.
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Background in Computer Science, Chemistry, Materials Science, Optics, Imaging Science, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with digital image analysis, data processing, or programming is preferred.
  • Knowledge of optical microscopy, particularly laser scanning confocal microscopy, is a plus.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical findings through written reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Must be a currently enrolled student.
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June.
  • Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with digital image analysis, data processing, or programming is preferred.
  • Knowledge of optical microscopy, particularly laser scanning confocal microscopy, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and present analytical test results to Senior Scientists and Engineers.
  • Become proficient in advanced analytical tools including: Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Confocal 3D Fluorescence Microscope, Microscope FTIR.
  • Develop and iterate upon test methodologies.
  • Discuss test results and suggest future project directions.
  • Support routine analytical services by analyzing samples from other teams.
