About The Position
This is a student worker position. The Micro Technician Aide will assist PC Repair Technicians with computer hardware repair and installations. This includes troubleshooting, OS installation, and taking inventory of new computer installations. The role may also involve assisting AV Repair Technicians, the Police Department Technical Specialist, and Homeland Security Education Center Technology on projects as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above (waived for first-semester students).
- Basic knowledge of microcomputer hardware and software.
- Good understanding of DOS.
- Some coursework in data processing.
Responsibilities
- Assist PC Repair Technicians in computer hardware repair and installations.
- Troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues.
- Perform Operating System (OS) installations.
- Take inventory of new computer installations.
- Assist AV Repair Technicians, the Police Department Technical Specialist, and Homeland Security Education Center Technology on projects as needed.
