Performs a variety of functions in the production of semiconductor devices, including operating wafer fabrication tools and processes, testing product, and delivering product to work areas. The role requires an uncompromising dedication to following safety procedures and protocols, using written procedures and process specifications, and working collaboratively and professionally with a team to achieve production goals. The workday is 12 hours, alternating between three- and four-day workweeks. Day shift schedules run 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; night shift schedules run 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m. Applicants for night shift openings are strongly preferred. Typically, 8–10 hours per day are spent standing and walking while continuously lifting and moving boxes of wafers weighing approximately 10 pounds. Work takes place in a cleanroom while wearing a full-body cleanroom suit. Additional personal protective equipment is required when handling or working indirectly with hazardous materials. The operator applies company policies and procedures to complex tasks, understands production needs, escalates issues, recognizes quality problems with equipment and product, and takes appropriate action. Assignments are routine in nature but require understanding when troubleshooting is needed to produce manufacturable results. The operator typically achieves and maintains certification in multiple areas and can work without close supervision while applying a basic understanding of production procedures to meet manufacturing goals. Requires 0–2 years of related experience; a college degree may be considered to offset part of the manufacturing experience requirement.
