About The Position

The Maintenance 1 role troubleshoots and repairs industrial equipment and assists with installation and servicing of new equipment. The work includes electrical systems and controls, welding machines, and hydraulic systems. The employee works with minimal supervision, helps train new employees, and follows company safety and health procedures. The position is in a manufacturing environment and requires use of specified personal protective equipment.

Requirements

Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
Manual dexterity for operating machinery and computers.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
At least 1 year of industrial experience.
Ability to read prints and electrical schematics and use relevant test meters and equipment.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and repair all types of industrial equipment.
Read prints and electrical schematics and use test meters and equipment, including ohmmeters, voltage meters, oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.
Assist with installation and servicing of new equipment, including equipment operating at 110V to 416V, single-phase and three-phase systems, DC drives, numerical controls, welding machines, and hydraulic systems.
Confer with management to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and equipment conditions and ensure personnel safety.
Conduct furnace surveys.
Work with minimum supervision.
Provide on-the-job training to new employees.
Follow company-issued safety and health procedures.
Use required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, and gloves; use a face shield or goggles when operating grinders or welding equipment.
Assess fall protection at the beginning of each work order during the planning stage.
