About The Position

This is an 8-month co-op position with the possibility of extension, starting in September 2026. The role is based on-site in Burnaby, BC. The co-op student will gain hands-on experience in metrology engineering, contributing to the design and innovation of medical devices. This includes creating inspection jigs, working with advanced measurement technologies like CMMs and vision systems, and supporting inspection strategies for manufactured components. The goal is to build a strong foundation in metrology, understanding how measurement, accuracy, and precision are critical in modern manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals.
  • Highly proficient in CAD, particularly SolidWorks.
  • Value precision and take pride in accuracy in both design and measurement.
  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Enjoy solving problems and finding innovative solutions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create, build, and commission inspection jigs for Globe hardware using SolidWorks.
  • Work with coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and vision systems to ensure product quality and precision.
  • Support inspection strategies by helping develop inspection plans and selecting appropriate measurement tools for moulded and machined components.
  • Build a strong foundation in metrology, learning how measurement, accuracy, and precision shape modern manufacturing.
