About The Position

The Meter Reader collects meter information and helps maintain positive working relationships with customers. The role manages field meter data collection for multiple customers on a daily and monthly basis, supports customer utility-billing issue resolution, and helps coordinate field information for new customer accounts. The Meter Reader also identifies abnormal metering situations, assists with water and wastewater infrastructure GIS work, and provides administrative and related maintenance support as needed. The position reports directly to a Supervisor and participates in an on-call rotation with maintenance staff.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Good PC and Microsoft Office skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to review materials for accuracy.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong telephone etiquette.
• Ability and flexibility to learn and apply new skills.
• Ability to navigate a variety of computer applications.
• Ability to prioritize work.
• High level of professionalism and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional service to account relationships and help build customer relationships.
• Gather and consolidate data from varied sources.
• Manage field meter data collection for multiple customers on a daily and monthly basis.
• Support field inquiries and help resolve customer utility-billing issues.
• Coordinate and assist with field information for new customer account creation.
• Research and identify field procedures for authorizing access to customer meter locations and utility information.
• Identify abnormal metering situations and advise the Energy Management team.
• Support administrative business needs, including accounting, reporting, sales-process support, data entry, backup phone support, and general administration.
• Help with other related maintenance work when necessary.
• Work with GIS for new and existing water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Assist with riding the garbage truck when needed.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with maintenance staff.
