About The Position

Under general supervision, the Meter Reader Tier II performs a variety of duties related to reading, recording, and collecting utility meter data. The role includes maintaining assigned routes, reporting unusual conditions and gas leaks, and following meter-reading instructions while treating customers and their property courteously. The position also leads, trains, and instructs employees in their work.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work safely and comply with applicable safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Perform only work for which qualified and trained, protecting oneself, fellow employees, and the public from injury.
• Read, collect, and record meter data as assigned.
• Report unusual conditions and gas leaks.
• Check for unauthorized use and seal or reseal meters.
• Deliver notices to customer premises on assigned routes as needed.
• Drive a personal or company vehicle.
• Obtain access to customer premises through keys or other arrangements.
• Maintain assigned routes.
• Follow meter-reading instructions and treat customers and their property with courtesy and consideration.
• Lead, train, and instruct employees in their work.
• Perform other duties relating to meter reading as assigned.
