About The Position

Install and maintain all types of electric meters energized at any voltage in the shop, stations, switchyards, generating plants, and on customer premises. Install and maintain distribution grid control devices and automated metering and distribution grid network infrastructure. This role involves reading meters, installing, removing, changing, disconnecting, and reconnecting meters. It also includes testing meters for proper operation and accuracy, programming meters, and performing credit and collections related orders. The position requires investigating irregular usage, energy diversion, and self-contained service power quality problems, as well as ordering, receiving, shipping, storing, and inventorying meter and associated equipment. The job also entails performing work from ladders and elevated platforms.

Requirements

Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience of four years.
Qualified backgrounds include substation, metering, instrumentation, controls, power systems, or electrical maintenance, with demonstrated hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and working with electrical equipment.
State Driver License.
Must possess and maintain a medical certification card, if determined to be required by law.
Successfully complete the Company's training and qualification program for this position including: classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations.
Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends.
Work late shifts as needed.
Work independently under semi-direct supervision in a safe-efficient, and productive manner.
Proficiently use computers and applications related to this position.
Effectively communicate with other employees, customer, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner.
Promote a positive image of the Company to customer and the general public.
Comply with all aspects of the AEP Corporate Code of Conduct.

Ability to walk long distances as determined by the Company.
Ability to lift a 50-pound weight from the floor to a workbench.

24 months as a Meter Electrician B (for Meter Electrician A)
Successful candidate must live or be willing to relocate within 30 miles of the Coshocton Service Center (405 Brewer Lane Coshocton, Ohio 43812)

Responsibilities

Read meters as required for field order and on schedule for cycle billing
