About The Position

The Meter Electrician teams install and maintain self-contained electric meters in the shop and on customer premises. This role involves reading meters, installing, removing, changing, disconnecting, and reconnecting meters. Responsibilities also include testing meters for proper operation and accuracy, programming meters, and performing credit and collections related to orders. The position requires investigating irregular usage and energy diversion, repairing meters and associated equipment, and managing inventory. Additionally, the role involves investigating power quality problems, installing event recorders, and producing reports. Programming, testing, and troubleshooting relay controls for capacitors, regulators, and reclosers, as well as installing antennas and radios for smart grid devices are also key duties. The job requires performing work from ladders and elevated platforms.

Requirements

Within 24 months of employment, successfully complete the Company's training and qualification program for this position including: classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations.
Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends.

Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience of four years.
Qualified backgrounds include substation, metering, instrumentation, controls, power systems, or electrical maintenance, with demonstrated hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and working with electrical equipment.
Valid State Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a medical certification card, if determined to be required by law.

Responsibilities

Read meters as required for field order and on schedule for cycle billing.
Install, remove, change, disconnect, and reconnect meters.
Test single-phase, network, and polyphase self-contained meters for proper operation and accuracy.
Program meters.
Perform Credit and Collections related to order including disconnect and reconnect for non-payment.
Investigate irregular usage.
Investigate energy diversion.
Repair meters, meter sockets, and meter enclosures.
Order, receive, ship, store, and inventory meter and associated equipment.
Investigate self-contained service power quality problems, install event recorders, neutral testers, and produce reports.
Program, test, and troubleshoot relay controls for capacitors, regulators, and reclosers.
Install antennas and radios for smart grid devices.
Perform work from ladders and elevated platforms.
