About The Position

The Meter Electrician teams install and maintain self-contained electric meters in the shop and on customer premises. This role involves reading meters for field orders and cycle billing, installing, removing, changing, disconnecting, and reconnecting meters. Responsibilities also include testing single-phase, network, and polyphase self-contained meters for proper operation and accuracy, programming meters, and performing credit and collections tasks related to orders, including disconnects and reconnects for non-payment. The position requires investigating irregular usage and energy diversion, repairing meters, meter sockets, and enclosures, and managing the ordering, receiving, shipping, storing, and inventory of meters and associated equipment. Additionally, the role involves investigating self-contained service power quality problems, installing event recorders and neutral testers, producing reports, and programming, testing, and troubleshooting relay controls for capacitors, regulators, and reclosers. Installing antennas and radios for smart grid devices and performing work from ladders and elevated platforms are also key duties.

Requirements

Within 24 months of employment, successfully complete the Company's training and qualification program for this position including: classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations.
Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends.

Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience of four years.
Qualified backgrounds include substation, metering, instrumentation, controls, power systems, or electrical maintenance, with demonstrated hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and working with electrical equipment.
State Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a medical certification card, if determined to be required by law.
