About The Position

The Meter Electrician teams install and maintain self-contained electric meters in the shop and on customer premises. This role involves reading meters, installing, removing, changing, disconnecting, and reconnecting meters. It also includes testing single-phase, network, and polyphase self-contained meters for proper operation and accuracy, as well as programming meters. Responsibilities extend to credit and collections related to orders, investigating irregular usage and energy diversion, and repairing meters, meter sockets, and enclosures. The role also encompasses ordering, receiving, shipping, storing, and inventorying meter and associated equipment. Additionally, Meter Electricians investigate self-contained service power quality problems, install event recorders and neutral testers, and produce reports. They also program, test, and troubleshoot relay controls for capacitors, regulators, and reclosers, and install antennas and radios for smart grid devices. Work may be performed from ladders and elevated platforms.

Requirements

  • Within 24 months of employment, successfully complete the Company's training and qualification program for this position including: classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations.
  • Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends.

  • Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience of four years.
  • Qualified backgrounds include substation, metering, instrumentation, controls, power systems, or electrical maintenance, with demonstrated hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and working with electrical equipment.
  • State Driver's License.
  • Must possess and maintain a medical certification card, if determined to be required by law.

Nice To Haves

  • Examples include roles such as Meter Specialist, Meter Technician, Field Network Technician, or substation field personnel, as well as comparable military or industrial technical training.
  • 24 months as a Meter Electrician C
  • 24 Months experience as a Meter Electrician B.

Responsibilities
