About The Position

The Merchandising Assistant Manager joins the Store Manager in leading store associates and creating positive experiences for the community. The role focuses on merchandising and freight processing while assisting with store functions and daily activities. It also supports the Store Manager with freight management, merchandise ordering and stocking, sales-floor effectiveness, and sales planning. The position requires maintaining a clean, safe, and presentable store; following company policies and directives; protecting company assets; and fostering positive, respectful interactions with customers, associates, and leaders. This is a full-time role at Dollar Tree in Columbus, Ohio.

Requirements

Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
Ability to work in a high-energy team environment.
Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet the demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Prior retail and management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines.
Maintain the stockroom and sales floor to company standards.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Keep the store clean, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and ensuring all areas are neat and presentable.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and interact professionally and in a friendly manner with customers, associates, and leaders.
Process the receipt and return of DSD merchandise.
Manage freight flow in accordance with productivity standards.
Order and stock merchandise, including frozen and refrigerated items, in accordance with productivity standards.
Ensure the sales floor is sales-effective.
Plan, merchandise, and maintain Clip Strips and Power Panels with sales-effective items.
Plan and implement monthly Sales Planners.
Perform other duties as assigned.
