About The Position

The Merchandising Assistant Manager joins the Store Manager in leading a team of associates and creating positive experiences for the communities Dollar Tree serves. The role focuses on merchandising and processing freight while assisting with store functions and day-to-day activities. It also supports the Store Manager with freight management, merchandise ordering and stocking, and sales-floor presentation. The position includes maintaining store cleanliness and standards, protecting company assets, following policies and safety guidelines, and fostering a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and associates. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy team environment.
• Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds from floor to above shoulder height.
• Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Prior retail and management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines.
• Maintain the stockroom and sales floor to company standards.
• Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store communications.
• Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and interact professionally and amicably with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Process the receipt and return of DSD merchandise, as assigned by the Store Manager.
• Manage freight flow in accordance with productivity standards.
• Order and stock merchandise, including frozen and refrigerated items, in accordance with productivity standards.
• Ensure the sales floor is sales-effective.
• Plan, merchandise, and maintain Clip Strips and Power Panels with sales-effective items.
• Plan and implement monthly Sales Planners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
