About The Position

The part-time Merchandise Pick-Up assists the store team in carrying out the merchandising vision, ensuring products are properly assembled and placed to attract guest attention and helping guests with loadouts. The role balances moving furniture and other merchandise with excellent customer service, with guests as the top priority. Retail sales experience, including Point of Sale functions, some knowledge of merchandise and presentation techniques, and understanding of factors that drive retail profitability are desired. St. Matthew’s House is a faith-based 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to transform lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined. Its core purpose is to ensure that people experiencing hunger, homelessness, or addiction are not alone or without a pathway forward.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Effective communication and customer service skills.
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Schedule flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, and stoop for long periods.
Ability to handle, feel, and/or reach with hands and arms.
Ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to 75 pounds with assistance.

Nice To Haves

Retail and sales background.
Experience with Point of Sale functions.
Some knowledge of merchandise and presentation techniques.
Understanding of the elements that drive retail operations profitability.

Responsibilities

Manage time, prioritize tasks, and balance sales-floor activity.
Greet, assist, and thank guests while providing excellent customer service.
Use excellent telephone etiquette when answering calls.
Lift and move furniture and large merchandise using proper techniques and moving equipment when appropriate.
Maintain the physical appearance of the sales floor and comply with the safety program.
Help unload merchandise transfer trucks and process items as needed.
Communicate daily needs to store leadership.
Maintain a strong work ethic and handle a continuous, sometimes intense, workload.
Share the mission of St. Matthew’s House with guests and the general public.
Participate in store special events as scheduled by the Store Manager.
Perform assigned duties and additional responsibilities as directed by the Store Manager to ensure efficient store operations.
Adhere to St. Matthew’s House policies and procedures.
