About The Position

The Merchandise Coordinator is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards and ensuring Associates process merchandise efficiently and effectively as a team. The role supports an excellent customer experience by engaging with customers, maintaining a clean and organized store, and modeling exceptional customer service. The Coordinator orchestrates truck delivery and prioritizes processing merchandise onto the sales floor, trains and mentors Associates on merchandising and processing principles, and monitors team productivity. The role also helps maintain backroom organization, merchandising and signage standards, safety, and compliance with store policies and applicable labor laws. The Coordinator communicates priorities and progress with management and Associates and supports store shrink-reduction, credit, and loyalty programs. This position is based at the TJ Maxx store in Lynchburg, Virginia. The starting pay range is $14.50 to $15.00 per hour; actual starting pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

At least 1 year of retail experience and 6 months of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Create a positive internal and external customer experience.
Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
Orchestrate truck delivery and prioritize processing merchandise onto the sales floor.
Train and mentor Associates on established merchandising and processing principles.
Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty to support efficient flow of goods to the sales floor.
Ensure Associates complete tasks and activities according to the store plan, prioritizing as needed.
Monitor team productivity and coach Associates as necessary.
Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
Maintain merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards in the backroom.
Ensure compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous waste programs.
Communicate priorities accurately and effectively with management and Associates, and provide progress updates.
Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback.
Partner with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Promote credit and loyalty programs.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
