About The Position

The Merchandise Coordinator is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards, ensuring Associates process merchandise efficiently and effectively as a team, and supporting an excellent customer experience. The role engages with customers, maintains a clean and organized store, and models exceptional customer service. The Coordinator orchestrates truck deliveries and prioritizes moving merchandise to the sales floor; trains and mentors Associates on merchandising and processing; monitors productivity and coaches team members; and communicates with the Coordinator on Duty, management, and Associates to coordinate priorities and provide progress updates. The role also maintains backroom organization, merchandising and signage standards, safety, and compliance with relevant policies and programs. The position requires a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends. The starting pay range is USD $16.00 to $16.50 per hour; actual pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Requirements

At least 1 year of retail experience and 6 months of leadership experience.
Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Superior communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Capable of multitasking.
Able to respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations.
Able to work effectively with peers and supervisors as a team player.
Capable of lifting heavy objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Create a positive internal and external customer experience and role-model exceptional customer service.
Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
Orchestrate truck delivery and prioritize processing merchandise onto the sales floor.
Train and mentor Associates on established merchandising and processing principles.
Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty to ensure efficient flow of goods to the sales floor.
Ensure Associates complete tasks according to the store plan and reprioritize as needed.
Monitor team productivity and coach Associates as necessary.
Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
Maintain merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards in the backroom.
Ensure compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous waste programs.
Communicate priorities accurately and effectively with management and Associates and provide progress updates.
Give and receive recognition and constructive feedback.
Partner with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Promote credit and loyalty programs.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
